GENesis 2022: Pocket Conference is a conference and festival dedicated to Asian and Asian Canadian theatre. In 2010, fu-GEN Theatre Company held the first GENesis, ushering in a new wave of Asian Canadian Theatre. The intervening years have been a transformative, important decade for Asian North American performance. The last two years especially has been a challenging time of innovation, disruption and evolution.

GENesis 2022 will be a reflection on the last decade of Asian Canadian performance and research, a critical look at our present moment and a glimpse of what lies ahead. This conference and festival will feature artistic presentations, paper presentations and panels happening live in five different cities across North America, Europe and Asia and broadcast as podcasts for global participation.

The conference and festival are in partnership with the University of Toronto Centre for Drama, Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre, East West Players, The University of Cologne and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
